What is the time zone of Western Australia?

Western Australia is in the Australian Western Time zone. The state is not observing daylight savings so the clock is the same all year round.

  • Australian Western Standard Time (AWST):+8:00 UTC (ahead)

There are two exceptions:

  • South eastern places such as Eucla, Cocklebiddy, Madura, Mundrabilla and Border village observe the Australian Western Standard Time +08.45 UTC all year round
  • Outback places such as Blackstone, Irrunytju, Warakurna, Wararn, Kiwirrkurra and Tjukurla are +09.30 UTC all year round

Travel to neighboring provinces and countries

If you travel outside Western Australia you might change time zones. But it really depends where and when you cross the border.

To Northern Territory: You will enter the Australian Central Time zone

  • October to April: +1:30 hour ahead
  • April to October: +1:30 hour ahead

To South Australia: You will enter the Australian Central Time zone

  • October to April: +1:30 hour ahead
  • April to October: +2:30 hour ahead

Western Australia Daylight Savings Time (DST)

There is no daylight savings.
